On September 16, 1926, Jeff Reddell signed a notarial' act containing a conventional and special mortgage on his immovable property, and containing also a chattel mortgage on certain of his movables, in favor of Lee Reddell, passed before Ortego, Notary Public, and on the 24th day of September, 1926, the one act containing the two mortgages was brought to the Clerk of Court and Recorder of the Parish of Evangeline, and the following endorsement was written thereon:

*721“Piled September 24, 1926, at 3:10 P. M. and same day recorded in chattel mortgage book No. 11 at page 320 et seq. Signed L.…
