A jury convicted defendant, Dennis Jackson, of armed robbery (720 ILCS 5/18—2 (West 1994)), first degree murder (720 ILCS 5/9—1 (West 1994)) and felony murder (720 ILCS 5/9—1(a)(3) (West 1994)) in connection with the stabbing death of the victim, Kenneth Posey. Although defendant was found eligible for the death penalty, the court sentenced defendant to a term of natural life imprisonment for the first degree murder, with a concurrent term of 30 years’ imprisonment for the armed robbery.
