THOMAS, District Judge.

On the 17th day of August, 1896, the libelant, a longshoreman, was working aboard the steamship Lisnacrieve, under the employment of T. Monaghan, a stevedore, with whom a contract had been made by the charterers to discharge a cargo of asphalt. The ship was lying at the foot of Fifty-Second street, in the city of New York.
