Plaintiff, Leon Barmore (plaintiff), appeals from an order of the Circuit Court of Winnebago County directing a verdict in favor of defendants, Thomas Elmore, Sr., and Esther Elmore (defendants).

On August 8,1977, at approximately 5:30 or 6 p.m., plaintiff came to the defendants’ home. Both plaintiff and Thomas Elmore, Sr. (Thomas, Sr.), were officers of a Masonic Lodge, and plaintiff’s purpose in making the visit was to discuss lodge business.
