The plaintiffs brought suit by attachment against William Matthews, on the thirteenth of February, 1867, to recover a balance of $50,000, due on account, and on the same day Garrard & Craig were cited to answer interrogatories as garnishees. On the twenty-third day of February a supplemental petition was filed, and the Southern Bank was garnisheed.

On the second of March, 1867, tlie Southern Bank answered that it held for collection, for account of the Exchange Bank of St. Louis, a bill of exchange, drawn by Matthews on Garrard & Craig, and accepted by them, dated fourth February, 1807, at…
