A joint indictment against the defendant, Philip Kolep, and James Bracken, Dennis Doherty, LeRoy Buick, Eugene Avery, Roy McGovern and Donald Cogían, was returned in the criminal court of Cook County charging the murder of Roseann Beckman. The defendant, Kolep, who was tried jointly with Avery, McGovern, Cogían and Bracken before the same jury, was found guilty and sentenced to 14 years in the penitentiary.
