Today the majority rips the soul out of affordable housing in the state of Connecticut. By enacting the affordable housing land use appeals statute, General Statutes § 8-30g (affordable housing), the legislature sought to address a panoply of social *610ills.1 First and foremost, the statute attempts to address the dire housing needs of low and moderate income citizens.
