On August 5, 1938, J. Butler Doolittle, a loom adjuster in the employ of Matthews Cotton Mills, while preparing to put into operation a newly installed electric loom, came to his death by electrocution. Subsequently an award was made by the South Carolina Industrial Commission against Matthews Cotton Mills in favor of Mrs. Lucile Doolittle, the widow and personal representative of the deceased, and his children, which award was paid by the United States Casualty Company pursuant to the provisions of the Workmen’s…
