I,The defendant, Calvin Mitchell, was convicted of second degree murder and attempted manslaughter, violations of LSA-R.S. 14:30.1, LSA-R.S. 14:31 and LSA-R.S. 14:27. The trial court granted the defendant’s motion for a post-verdict judgment of acquittal and reduced the second degree murder conviction to manslaughter. The court sentenced the defendant to serve 14 years in prison at hard labor for the manslaughter conviction and six years at hard labor for the attempted manslaughter conviction (to be served concurrently).
