On the evening subsequent to the death of his wife, the defendant was sworn- and examined as a witness before the Coroner’s inquest. Upon such examination be gave an account of the circumstances attending the death, after which, upon being asked when he had been in Albany, he answered that it was two weeks ago the last Saturday. Upon being asked whether he had not been there since, he, answering, as if correcting himself, said he had been in Albany a week ago the last Saturday.
