ANDERSON, Circuit Judge:

In this capital case, petitioner Wayne Coleman appeals from the federal district court’s order denying his petition for habeas corpus relief. At trial, the state’s evidence revealed the following tragic facts. On May 14, 1973, Coleman and Carl Isaacs entered Jerry Alday’s mobile home in Donalsonville, in Seminole County, Georgia, while their two companions, George Dun-gee and Billy Isaacs, remained outside initially.
