STATEMENT OF THE CASE

liThe defendant Gregory Truvia was charged by grand jury indictment on May 31, 2007, with first degree murder, a violation of La. R.S. 14:30. The defendant pleaded not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity at his June 13, 2007 arraignment. He was found competent to proceed on April 8, 2008. The State amended the indictment on September 25, 2008 to reflect the charge of second degree murder.
