In an Opinion and Order dated March 31, 2016, the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Board (Board) affirmed, in large part, and reversed, in part, a decision by a Workers’ Compensation Judge (WCJ), granting a claim petition filed by a cancer-stricken Philadelphia firefighter (Claimant) under Section 108(r) of the Workers’ Compensation Act (Act), pertaining to the definitions of occupational diseases. 1 Relevant to this proceeding are two aspects of the Board’s decision.
