¶1 A jury convicted Cordarrel Hayes of second degree assault for injuring his girl friend, Shanay Shaw, in an altercation outside of a night club. Hayes argues the trial court violated his state and federal constitutional rights to confront witnesses when it admitted Shaw’s hearsay statements to medical personnel; that the court violated his right to present a defense by declining to admit letters Shaw wrote to him while he was in jail; and that his offender score was erroneous because the State failed to prove a 2005 Ohio conviction was comparable to a Washington crime.
