Brock v. State
Supreme Court of Georgia
1Opinion of the Court
HUNSTEIN, Chief Justice.
Derrick Brock was convicted of the murder of James Lockett, who died from injuries sustained in a fire at his rooming house on Bolton Road in Atlanta.1 On appeal, Brock contends that he was denied his Sixth Amendment right to a speedy trial and that his trial counsel was ineffective for failing to assert the speedy trial claim. Because the trial court properly concluded Brock was not denied his *157constitutional right to a speedy trial and trial counsel was not deficient for failing to raise the issue prior to trial, we affirm.
