This case is before the court on petition for review of a decision of the court of appeals, Griebler v. Doughboy Recreational, 152 Wis. 2d 622, 449 N.W.2d 61 (Ct. App. 1989). The court of appeals reversed the judgments entered by the circuit *551court for Oconto County, Robert 0. Weisel, Reserve Judge. The circuit court granted summary judgment to the defendants on the grounds that the plaintiff caused his own injuries by voluntarily confronting an open and obvious danger: diving headfirst into water of unknown depth.
