This case comes to us on appeal from the Macomb County Circuit Court. The court determined that the defendant negligently collided with the rear end of plaintiffs’ automobile and awarded plaintiffs damages as a result of that collision.

On the date of trial, defendant appeared, represented by an associate of his counsel, who explained that his sole purpose in appearing was to announce the fact that defendant was no longer represented by counsel and to move for a continuance to enable defendant to obtain another lawyer.
