OPINION OF THE COURT

Defendant is charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, and several vehicle and traffic violations. The charges arose out of a traffic stop conducted on April 27, 2013, in the City of Rochester, New York. According to pretrial hearing testimony, police officers initiated the stop when defendant failed to obey a traffic device.
