delivered the opinion of the court:

A two count indictment charged the defendant with the offenses of armed robbery and robbery. Tried by a jury, he was found guilty of the later offense, his petition for probation denied and he was sentenced to the penitentiary for a term of four to ten years.

On appeal, defendant contends: 1) the evidence was not sufficient to sustain the judgment of conviction; 2) he was denied effective assistance of counsel; 3) the court encouraged a compromise verdict; 4) he was denied a fair trial by prejudicial cross-examination; 5) the court…
