On September 4, 1987, an information was filed in the Lancaster County District Court charging the defendant-appellant, Carl A. Martin, with three counts of first degree sexual assault, under Neb. Rev. Stat. § 28-319(l)(a) (Reissue 1985); two counts of using a knife to commit a felony, under Neb. Rev. Stat. § 28-1205(1) (Reissue 1985); and one count of robbery, under Neb. Rev. Stat. § 28-324(1) (Reissue 1985). Defendant pleaded not guilty to all charges, and the case was set for a jury trial.
