On January 10, 2017, Billy R. Meadows pled guilty to second degree cruelty to a juvenile, and was subsequently adjudicated a fourth felony offender pursuant to La. R.S. 15:529.1. As a result of the habitual offender adjudication, Meadows' sentence was enhanced from 40 years of imprisonment at hard labor to imprisonment for the rest of his natural life.
