OPINION OF THE COURT

Read, J.

In August 2011, 15-year-old Gabriela A. was adjudicated a person in need of supervision (PINS) and placed on probation *158for one year. Thereafter, she was subject to PINS violation petitions. Additionally, in February 2012, a juvenile delinquency petition was filed against Gabriela A., based on a complaint of physical abuse made by her mother (the February petition). On February 28, 2012, Gabriela A. appeared before Family Court in connection with her PINS violations and the February petition, and the court remanded her to a specified nonsecure detention facility.…
