ARCHBALD, District Judge.*

The patent in suit was issued to Calvin Jackson, August 5, 1890, for a coil clasp; the object of the invention being declared to be “to provide a simple, cheap, and efficient clasp for mail bags, boots and shoes, gloves, trunks, valises and traveling bags, grain bags, corsets, belts, and for similar uses.” Its application to machine belts is that which has proved most general and effective, and is the one with which we have to deal in the present case.
