PROCEDURAL HISTORY
This protracted condemnation case had its origins in the mid 1960s when several studies were made on the desirability of establishing a National Park Preserve in the Big Thicket area of East Texas. Litigation involving these 2,175.86 acres commenced on August 21, 1978, when the government, after failing to acquire the subject tract by negotiated purchase filed a complaint in condemnation.
