LOONEY, Justice.

Mrs. B. F. Hollingsworth sued the American Trading Company, Inc., to recover damages for personal injuries received from a fall in the doorway of the defendant’s grocery store, in the City of Dallas, breaking her kneecap. The fall was alleged to have been caused by stepping upon a slippery substance, having the appearance of a quid of tobacco, spat upon the floor by some person, and, by the defendant, negligently permitted to remain as a menace to its customers.
