STATEMENT OF THE CASE

Defendant James Taylor was charged by grand jury indictment on June 8, 2000 with second degree murder, a violation of La. R.S. 14:80.1. He was jointly indicted with Thea M. Williams, who was charged with second degree murder and accessory after the fact.1 Defendant pleaded not guilty at his June 14, 2000 arraignment.
