The collector of revenue of the city of St. Louis brought this action against the Trustees of William Jewell College to collect real estate taxes on a certain tract of land located in the city of St. Louis and owned by that college. The -city of St. Louis, Joseph P. Sestric, assessor of that city, and' Milton Carpenter, comptroller, filed intervening petitions. The respondent filed an answer admitting the ownership of the land but stated the land was exempt from taxation.
