delivered the opinion of the court.

The plaintiff, Aldrich, sued the defendant, Mathias, before a justice of the peace in January, 1906, on seven promissory notes payable to Aldrich, signed by Mathias, each for $25. They were dated February 28,-1904, and due respectively on the. 15th days of June, July, August, September, October, November and December, 1904. Aldrich recovered a judgment before the justice on these notes for $196 and costs of suit. The defendant Mathias appealed to the County Court of Cook county.
