INTRODUCTION
This matter comes before the court on the government’s motion for a default judgment and an order of forfeiture (Item 11). The action was commenced on June 13, 2002 with the filing of a complaint pursuant to 21 U.S.C. § 881(a)(6) (Item 1). The government filed the instant motion on August 21, 2002 (Item 11). Thereafter, the putative claimant’s attorney filed an answer to the forfeiture complaint on September 13, 2002 (Item 14), and an affirmation in response to the motion on September 23, 2002 (Item 15).
