The facts, other than those relating to the amount of just compensation, are not in dispute. They may be briefly summarized as follows : On July 9, 1914, long subsequent to the enactment of the public-utility law, the village (now city) of Adams granted to the plaintiff’s predecessor, Friendship Electric Light & Power Company, an indeterminate permit. At about the same time, the same company obtained a similar permit from the village of Friendship.
