This is an action by the Farmers’ Shipping Association of Sinai, a corporation, against C. C. Nordgren upon a promissory note. The trial resulted in the direction of a verdict for the plaintiff, and defendant appeals from judgment accordingly entered and from order overruling motion for new trial.

The note described in the complaint was dated July 30, 1920, and made payable November 1, 1920, in the sum of $190, with interest at the rate of 8 per cent per annum until due and at 12 per cent per annum after maturity. The first defense stated in the answer is that the note was given…
