The East St. Louis Union Railway Company, the appellee, is a railway corporation organized under chapter 114 of the Revised Statutes of 1874, known as the “Railroad and Warehouse act.” As appears from its articles of incorporation, the object of its organization was to construct and operate a single and double track railroad in this State, from the north to the south end of Front street, in the city of East St. Louis.
