On December 17, 2009, L.S. (“the mother”) filed petitions in the juvenile court seeking a modification of custody of her two children, A.P. and K.P. In her modification petitions, the mother alleged that the juvenile court had earlier entered an order pertaining to each child awarding custody to P.A., their paternal grandmother, and M.A., their paternal step-grandfather.
