INTRODUCTION

Plaintiffs represent a class of flight attendants, formerly employed by Trans World Airlines, Inc. (“TWA”), who joined American Airlines, Inc. (“AA” or “American”) when AA acquired TWA following TWA’s bankruptcy and who are currently scheduled to be furloughed from their jobs on July 2, 2003 as a result of a Restructuring Agreement between AÁ and the Association of Professional Flight Attendants (“APFA” or “the union”).
