LOKEN, Circuit Judge.
Bógale Assefa Tegegn, a 68-year-old citizen of Ethiopia, lawfully entered the United States in February 2008 and timely applied for asylum, withholding of removal, and relief under the Convention Against Torture. An immigration judge (IJ) denied relief after a hearing, rejecting Tegegn’s claims of past persecution and a well-founded fear of future persecution based primarily on his political opinion.
