In January 2004, defendant, Brett T. Kellems, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) (625 ILCS 5/11 — 501 (West 2004)), and the trial court sentenced him to 18 months’ court supervision. In July 2005, a probation officer filed a petition to revoke defendant’s supervision. In March 2006, defendant filed a motion to dismiss the petition to revoke his supervision, arguing that because the probation officer did not have the authority to file the petition, the court did not have jurisdiction to entertain it.
