Plaintiff Vuarnet Footwear, Inc., an importer and wholesaler of sneakers, brought this action against defendant Royal Insurance Company of America, seeking to recover the value of a container of merchandise shipped to it from Indonesia and lost in transit during the final leg of its journey — from the bonded warehouse in Seeaucus to plaintiffs South Hackensack warehouse.
