In January, 1891, the respondent, Alexander, was appointed receiver of all the property of the Huron Lumber Company, in an action in which appellant was plaintiff, and the Huron Lumber Company defendant. Respondent qualified and entered upon his duties as such receiver, and has continued in the exercise thereof. In January, 1892, he petitioned the superior court of King county to settle and determine his compensation for services rendered up to that time.
