The appellant entered a plea of guilty to the charge of abandonment and non-support of his minor unmarried children dependent upon him for support at the September, 1947, term of General Sessions Court for Laurens County, which was presided over by the Honorable J. Woodrow Lewis. Whereupon appellant was given a sentence of hard labor upon the public works of Laurens County for a period of one year and placed upon probation for a period of five years.
