The plaintiff, William Foster, filed a lawsuit against the defendant, John Johnson, in the circuit court of Cook County for damages sustained from a battery which the defendant allegedly committed against the plaintiff while both parties were at work as employees of the Chicago Transit Authority (the CTA).
