The defendant, Timothy Kyles,' was charged by information with two counts of aggravated battery of two correctional officers (720 ILCS 5/12—4(b)(6) (West 1994)) and attempted aggravated arson (720 ILCS 5/8—4, 20—1.1(a)(1) (West 1994)). After a bench trial, he was found guilty of the two counts of aggravated battery and one count of criminal damage to property less than $300.
