delivered the unanimous Opinion of the Court:
Appellant, William Blocker, and his wife, Daisy Blocker, were indicted for statutory arson. The indictment charged that they willfully and maliciously set fire to and burned the dwelling house of Zebb Cobb on September 17, 1943. The case was tried at the April term, 1944, of the Court of General Sessions of Colleton County. The State offered in evidence an oral confession claimed to have been made by appellant and his wife on September 19, 1943, and a written confession alleged to have been made by them on September 20,…
