Appeal from a judgment of the County Court of Rensselaer County (Sheridan, J.), rendered March 6, 1998, upon a verdict convicting defendant of the crimes of assault in the second degree and forgery in the second degree.
On May 6,1997, defendant traveled to the City of Troy, Rensselaer County, in the company of others for the purpose of retrieving his two-year-old child from Bernice Thornton, who had been caring for the child for a period of time.
