On January 24, 2003, Jane Smith (the plaintiff), as the special administrator of the estate of Wilfred Smith, deceased, filed a wrongful death/medical malpractice action in the circuit court of Perry County against William Bartley, M.D. (the defendant), and Healthline Management, Inc., the defendant’s employer.
