Defendant Romelle Jones was convicted of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder (720 ILCS 5/9 — 1(a)(1) (West 2006)) after a jury trial. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison for first-degree murder and 10 consecutive years for attempted first-degree murder. The trial court added 20 years to defendant’s sentence for discharging a firearm during the commission of the offense (730 ILCS 5/5—8—1 (a)(1)(d)(ii) (West 2006)).
