A jury found defendants Joe Gonzales and Daniel Alarcon guilty of murder in the first degree (Pen. Code, §§ 187, 189) and of robbery in the first degree (§§ 211, 211a). After a penalty trial on the murder count, a jury fixed the punishment of Gonzales at death. Alarcon waived a jury trial as to penalty and the court fixed his punishment at life imprisonment. Gonzales was sentenced on the murder count to death and on the robbery count to state prison for the term prescribed by law.
