George Green sued the Texas Department of Human Services (“DHS”), his former employer, alleging a retaliatory firing in violation of Tex.Rev.Civ.Stat.Ann. art. 6252-16a (West Supp.1993) (“the Whistle- blower Act” or “the Act”). 1 The trial court rendered judgment on a jury verdict, awarding Green $3,459,831.87 in actual damages, $10,000,000 in exemplary damages, $160,000 in attorney’s fees, plus pre- and postjudgment interest.…
