OPINION AND ORDER

ACOSTA, District Judge.

PROCEDURAL BACKGROUND

The Court is called upon to decide in this case the amount of damages, if any, plaintiff is entitled to receive as a result of defendant’s default on a lease contract. Jurisdiction is premised on diversity of citizenship pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 1332.

This action was filed on December 17, 1982. Plaintiff alleged in its complaint defendant had entered into a five-year contract for the lease of a particular property commencing August 1, 1981. Defendant vacated the premises in or about December 1981 and continued payments until March…
