GILDEA, Justice.

Following a jury trial in Hennepin County District Court, appellant Amani Jamalludin Fardan was convicted of first-*309degree felony murder, second-degree felony murder, and first-degree aggravated robbery in connection with the death of Bernard Brown. Fardan was sentenced to life in prison. Fardan filed a direct appeal to this court, arguing that the district court erred by (1) admitting a statement made by Fardan in violation of his Miranda rights; (2) admitting Spreigl evidence; and (3) sentencing Fardan to a consecutive life sentence rather than a concurrent sentence.…
