Defendants in this action, an individual corporate officer and an affiliated company, appeal from a judgment entered against them by the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York (Brian M. Cogan, Judge) following a trial and jury verdict. Defendants were found liable for torture under the Alien Tort Statute (“ATS”), 28 U.S.C. § 1350, and the Torture Victim Protection Act of 1991 (“TVPA”), 106 Stat. 73, note following *4528 U.S.C. § 1350.
